The Tabard Theatre has teamed up with Soho Theatre to give a sneak preview of the best in Stand Up Comedy prior to National Tour.
23rd July:
Aditi Mittal and Sumit Anand
24th July:
Janine Harouni and Aditi Mittal
Aditi Mittal: Mother of Invention
Motherhood: the most celebrated and exploited condition of human existence. Joining an illustrious line of shows by straight, white men about their Daddy issues, this is a show by a straight, brown woman about her Mommy issues. The star of Netflix’s Comedians of the World and her own hour-long special, Aditi returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe after a critically-acclaimed 2017 debut. ‘Relaxed and utterly assured’ **** Skinny. ‘Has an absorbing storytelling style’ Chortle.
Sumit Anand: Nothing About Godzilla
The rising star of the Indian stand-up comedy scene, Sumit Anand makes his Edinburgh Fringe debut with a show that has no jokes about Godzilla. It has no jokes at all, actually. Sorry. The times, they are a-changin’. Having flown in to the comedy scene five years ago, Sumit has looked back many times ever since. Every time he thought of quitting comedy to fail as a musician, somebody would book him. Eventually, he would like to fail as a magician. ‘Droll, eccentric and sophisticated’ Metro.
Stand Up with Janine Harouni (Please Remain Seated)
Janine’s father is a lifelong New Yorker and son of Middle-Eastern immigrants. He’s also an avid Donald Trump supporter. Attempting to reconcile those things makes for one tense Sunday dinner. Catch multi award-winning newcomer Janine Harouni in her debut show about standing up for what you believe in, even if you have to do it really nicely. Winner: Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2018 and 1/3 of award-winning sketch trio Muriel.
